Classes
- Intro to Yoga
- Our Introductory class is a good place for new students to start. Typically offered in a 6-week series, this is an introduction that includes several specific breathing techniques (pranayama), relaxation techniques, and a dozen basic poses (asanas). Poses include basic movements for a traditional sun salute as well as simple backbends, twists, balances, and modified inversions. Students develop confidence and capability with a foundational and well-rounded yoga practice.

Gentle Yoga
- Our Gentle classes are an invitation to slow down and enjoy each simple pose by attuning to breath and sensation and elevating body awareness. We are primarily on our backs and against the wall, with occasional standing and supported sitting work. We warm the joints, open the breath, and move with respect for individual needs. This class both strengthens and nurtures the student. While the pace of this class is slow and transitions are gradual, students must be able to move from the floor to standing and back again without assistance. Beginners welcome.
-
Restorative Yoga
- Restorative sequencing moves us slowly into a deep somatic experience. Forward folds open the back and calm the nervous system, prompting self-investigation. Light abdominal exercise replenishes our well of energy. Mild, supported backbends and twists spread energy throughout the body, freeing places of grip and grasp. Gentle inversions relieve the daily demands made on our legs and hips. Visualization and relaxation techniques calm the mind. This class is for everyone.
- Basics
- Basics classes refine and broaden the techniques from the introductory level. Students practice universal alignments in basic standing and seated poses and explore new poses, including hip opening to support backbends. The intention is to deepen through structural alignments and to cultivate an ever-fresh beginner's mind: wide awake and open to discovery. Basics includes an introduction to mindfulness meditation and refines breathing techniques (pranayama).
- Moderate Yoga
- Here we move at a determined, moderate pace with pauses for reflection and absorption of poses and their sequencing. We offer a wide range of poses with options for modification, development, and variation. Moving with awareness, students are able to uncover the potential of breath, alignment, and mindfulness in each pose. Arm balances, inversions, and deep back bends are included.
- Anusara-inspired Moderate
- Anusara yoga classes are based on the philosophy that all is good, that life is a dance, and that we are here to enjoy it. We start by opening to grace, by letting the breath guide and support us, by listening to the body, by breathing into the back body and breathing out through the front. We create freedom in each pose by building a steady structure with elegant alignments and then learning to use the play of energy to open into that steadiness. Sequences are wisely constructed so that one pose leads into the next.
- Svaroopa Bliss I
- Individualized supported yoga poses deepen awareness of the bodymind connection. Reliably releases deep spinal tension and relaxes the mind.
- Blissful Back
- Svaroopa Yoga poses specifically for your achy, ouchy, tight back, neck and shoulders! Fully supported, individually aligned asanas to release the tension that compresses your back and restricts your mind.
- Baby Boomer Class
- If not now, when? Geared to the older student, people roughly 40 to 60 years old. This class honors the wisdom in each of us that is gained only through life experience. Modifications of the poses are offered to suit a student's ability, body type, or physical limitations. There is plenty of adjustment time in between poses.
- Mindfulness Yoga
- Mindfulness is complete acceptance...accepting just this moment, just this breath. Yoga means union or yoking of the body and the mind. In this class we will explore posture and meditation, mat and cushion, mindfully merging both. We will work with the breath, following its movements through the body, being present in just this moment, just now. As we turn the lens inward, we will learn more about the asana, the breath, and ourselves.
- Mellow Vinyasa
- A flowing investigation of postures, breathing techniques, and energy, Mellow Vinyasa is a canvas for students wanting to learn how to move with grace, intelligence, and ease. Each month we focus on a principle of movement so that techniques may imprint on the body over time. This practice refines body balance and increases strength and flexibility. The format includes pranayama, chanting, and meditation.
- Vinyasa
- Practiced in a warm room at a swift pace, this class aims to burn through the physical and psychic impediments to Self-realization. Vinyasa sharpens intention and deepens devotion to living through the light of the Self. It is designed for students who are comfortable in a heated room (85°); who are familiar with inversions; and who appreciate a challenging sequence of postures. Bring a towel.
