Yoga in Ballard Park - Newport
Hosted by Friends of Ballard Park,  City of Newport's Park Recreation Department and Innerlight.
Led by Patti Confort.  The fee is $10.00 and you can pay by cash only at the park.
This is a beautiful nature preserve that is located across the street from Rogers High School in Newport. The setting is nothing short of magical, students place their mats on the grass in a clearing, their gazes travel up a rock face to find the passing clouds, and the only music is that of the song birds that call Ballard Park their home.
Students who have attended in the past have been of all levels of skill and interest. We have had experienced yogis, total beginners, and casual practitioners. Families have come to practice together with children going off to explore or just sit and watch when they have had enough. While a structured practice is presented, the class environment is as free as the setting. Students do as much or as little as they wish. The object is for all to enjoy their experience and the beautiful surroundings. If you have a spouse or partner who is unsure if they wish to practice with you, he/she can bring a chair and join my husband as he sits under a tree and reads a book. He enjoys the tranquility of the setting too. Please join us. It is a wonderful way to end a summer day. If I might be so bold to suggest, you have not lived until you have gone into corpse pose under the open sky at Ballard Park.  Bring your own mat and a sweater because it can get cool as the sun sets.                                Wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to class to allow time for parking. Ballard Park is located along Hazzard & Wickham Roads in Newport. Use Hazard Road entrance for classes. For more information call 619-3377 or visit BallardPark.org
