“The essence of health is trusting yourself, your thoughts, and your feelings.
~Christiane Northrup, M.D. from the Foreward of Writing the Mind Alive by Linda Trichter Metcalf Ph.D and Tobin Simon Ph.D.
“My life and my thinking have changed in ways I never thought were possible. Because of my practice, calcified ways of thinking about the people in my life and the experiences that shaped me have cracked open. The compassion that I’ve experienced for myself as a result of PW has expanded to include compassion for others and for the human condition itself.” ~ Ann Mullen, PWC faculty

Build self trust through being present to your thoughts in writing and reflecting upon your thoughts in writing. Connect more deeply with your spiritual self, cultivate compassion for self, and other. Integrate emotions and intellect. It’s a simple practice done in 20-25 minute increments under quiet conditions, alone or in the presence of others.

This immersion is designed as an introduction for those new to Proprioceptive Writing as well as an opportunity for those with prior experience to deepen. Didactic presentation, two Writes and Kim’s responses to Writes will be included in the afternoon. Participants sit on the floor or in chairs for teaching sessions. The writing practice is done sitting at a table. All materials are provided. Create a mini retreat for yourself by attending the 10am Breathe Stretch Connect yoga class and/or the 5pm Gentle Yoga & Guided Relaxation.

A simple method anyone can learn, Proprioceptive Writing® (PW), is a powerful tool that can be used to:

  • Cultivate concentration, dissolve inhibitions, & build self-trust

  • Unburden your mind & resolve emotional conflicts

  • Connect more deeply with your spiritual self

  • Write & speak with strength & clarity

  • Awaken your senses & emotions

  • Liberate your creative energies

Writing as a Mindfulness Practice, Proprioceptive Writing® (PW) is a form of meditative writing that can be done alone or in groups.

Through the process of “Inner Hearing,” you learn to listen to your thoughts with empathy and curiosity and reflect on them in writing. When engaging your thoughts and feelings in this way, you become open, receptive and focused. The mind is freed from anxiety and you are left feeling refreshed, energized, and restored to your natural state of vibrant aliveness. PW is a powerful tool that can be used to awaken your senses and emotions, unburden your mind and resolve emotional conflicts, and connect more deeply with your spiritual self.
You’ll learn through your practice of the simple method as well as with the guidance of Kim’s extensive coaching. Participants gain confidence as they practice together in class and at home between classes.
